The hex set that lives on a workbench. Eight sizes (2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 mm) on balanced T-handles, each shank long enough to reach into the deep-set bolt locations a typical bike presents, each handle sized to the bolt's working-torque range. The kit that covers almost every hex fastener you'll meet on a road, gravel, or MTB build.

The T-handle format puts the bolt on the long axis of a two-handed handle. You can spin the bolt in and out with the shank rolling between your fingers while one hand holds the cross-bar; for the snug-down, both hands on the cross-bar give you the leverage to bring the bolt to spec. The geometry beats an L-key for repeated work on the same fastener, which is exactly the work a home-shop hex kit gets called for.

The shanks are chrome-vanadium steel, hardened and tempered, with black-oxide tips for corrosion resistance and a tight fit into the hex recess. The handles are glass-fibre-reinforced polypropylene; the cross-bar's grip texture and balanced weight let the tool spin between your fingers when speed matters and stay seated when torque matters.

Compatibility

Eight sizes covering the bike-relevant metric hex span:

  • 2 mm: derailleur limit screws on most current Shimano and SRAM mechanical groupsets; small grub screws on shifter index assemblies
  • 2.5 mm: disc-brake caliper banjo bolts on some hydraulic systems; small saddle-rail and shifter-clamp fasteners
  • 3 mm: older shifter and brake-lever pinch bolts; bar-end plug screws
  • 4 mm: stem face-plate bolts on many bars; brake-lever clamps; bottle-cage bolts; most SPD cleat bolts
  • 5 mm: stem steerer-clamp bolts; seatpost binders; saddle-rail bolts on most clamps
  • 6 mm: disc-brake caliper-mount bolts; some chainring bolts on older designs
  • 8 mm: pedal threads from inside; some crank-fixing bolts on square-taper interfaces
  • 10 mm: Campagnolo crank-spindle bolts; some older bottom-bracket interfaces

Built in Zreče, Slovenia

Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. The T-handle hex set is the reach-for-it format for shop-pace work; the same chrome-vanadium and tip-treatment specifications that ship on the standalone professional T-handles are what's in this set, in the eight sizes a typical bike actually needs.

Pro tip from our mechanics

Two things determine how long a hex set lasts in a shop: the steel grade, and the tip's tolerance to the recess. A worn tip rounds the recess of a fresh bolt on first contact, which means a hex set's working life ends not when the steel breaks but when the tip fit loosens. Our hex keys are manufactured to the ISO 2936 dimensional standard for across-flats sizing; the tight tip-to-recess fit is what keeps the set working longer.
