Small workshops and serious home garages run into the same problem at scale: a freestanding repair stand consumes square footage that a workshop layout has already allocated to something else. The Wall or Bench Mounted Repair Stand puts the clamp on the wall or the bench surface and keeps the floor clear. There's no base plate, no column footprint, and no stand to wheel out of the way when you need to mop or store a bike against the wall.

The cam-style lever head clamps tubes 24 to 40 mm in diameter, which covers every standard seatpost, top tube, and seat tube on modern road and mountain bikes. The clamp's center sits 240 mm out from the riser tube, so a typical bike mounted on a wall installation has full clearance for the handlebars and rear wheel to swing without contacting the wall behind. The riser tube bolts directly to a 2x6 stud, a workbench edge, or a workshop pillar; the install hardware is standard hex bolts sized to the mounting surface.

When this beats a freestanding stand

The wall-or-bench variant earns its place in three scenarios: (1) a small shop where the floor space is committed to product display or seating; (2) a dedicated single-purpose station, e.g. tubeless setup or a fork-service bench, where the bike doesn't need to rotate or relocate; and (3) a serious home garage where the bike stays mostly assembled and the stand only sees occasional use.

For shops with high bike-to-bike throughput, the wall mount is too slow to switch between bikes; the floor space saved gets paid back in setup time. A freestanding stand stays the right choice for primary shop use.

Built in Zreče, Slovenia

Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. The 240 mm standoff between the riser tube and the clamp center was set after measuring handlebar widths against wall-clearance in actual tour-vehicle workshops and small dealer service bays. The wall-mount variant came out of those workshops, not out of a marketing brief.

Pro tip from our mechanics

The wall-mount install is a workshop commitment: once the stand is bolted, that's where the bike goes. Whether that commitment is the right one for your shop comes down to your bike traffic and your floor-space math: How to choose a bike repair stand →
