Bearing service is a two-step process: bearing removal followed by bearing installation. Simple, right? We’ve got you covered on the removal side with our bearing puller, and our bearing press is what you need to finish the job. Boom, installation and removal sorted.
You could buy an expensive set of ceramic hub bearings, chasing every bit of performance from your bike, and then smack them in with a 2×4 and a hammer, but why would you? Driving in a fresh bearing off-axis is a good way to damage both the bearing and whatever it’s being pounded in to. So don’t do it. Check the video above for a demonstration on how quick and easy it is to install a bearing the right way.
Use the right tool for the job. Our Universal Bearing Press Set properly installs most cartridge bearings on most frames and components.
This set includes the press and drifts for the following bearing sizes: 608, 1526, 6000, 6001, 6802, 6803, 6804, 6805, 6900, 6901, 6902, 6903, R6, 28×17 (Hope), BB30, all Press-fit standards and two different sized plastic coated adapters, to protect carbon surfaces during bearing installation.
That said, raise your hand if you have a bit of a tool fetish and simply like to be able to do any and all jobs that might come up. If that sounds like you, then Unior’s bearing press kit is worth having a look at. All of the bits you’ll need are included in a compact box, and it’s quick and easy to use. – pinkbike.com
