Some tools live in a drawer, and some tools live on a shelf. A bottom-bracket facing kit, an electric-stand fixed plate, a suspension-service oil bath; these don’t fit in 70 mm shallow drawers, and they shouldn’t share a drawer with the chain whip and the master-link pliers either. The Unior 949 Tool Cabinet is built for that specialty-tool pile: a stackable two-cabinet system that gets to 2 meters tall when assembled, with seven drawers in the lower unit and two adjustable shelves in the upper.

What you get

The 949 is two cabinets sold as a system:

  • Lower cabinet: 7 drawers on ball-bearing slides; full extension.
  • Upper cabinet: open interior with two adjustable shelves for the tools that don’t fit in drawers.
  • Stacked dimensions: 2030 mm tall × 695 mm wide × 660 mm deep.
  • System weight: 135 kg combined (lower + upper).
  • Lock: lockable, both cabinets.

Where it fits in the workshop

The 949 is the specialty-tool tower in a multi-cabinet shop layout. Three workflows it covers:

  1. Specialty tools you use weekly, not daily. Frame-prep reamers, bottom-bracket facing kits, suspension service kits, bearing presses. These get used often enough to deserve a fixed home, not often enough to earn drawer space in the main bench cabinet.
  2. Large tools and consumables. Boxes of bearings, replacement axles, dropout standards, cleaning supplies. The shelved upper cabinet handles items the drawer system doesn’t.
  3. Vertical floor footprint constraint. A 2 m tall × 0.7 m wide cabinet stores more tools per square meter of floor than a wider chest of the same drawer count.

For shops needing daily-driver tool storage at bench height, the bench-integrated 990WD7 chest and the rolling Hercules Tool Carriage 940H2 are the everyday cabinets. The 949 sits in the corner the bench doesn’t fit.

Built in Zreče, Slovenia

Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče, Slovenia, since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. The 949 shares the workshop-black powder coat and the central-lock hardware that runs across the rest of the Unior cabinetry line.

Pro tip from our mechanics

The 949’s two-cabinet split is the part to plan around. The lower cabinet’s 7 drawers want tools you reach for from a sitting or standing-low position; the upper cabinet’s shelves want tools you reach for from standing-tall. Heavy tools go low; light, infrequently-used tools go high.
