Replaceable rubber jaw covers are the wear part on every Unior stand clamp; the rubber takes the daily grip-and-release work, picks up grit and frame cleaner residue, and eventually wears thin or tears at a corner. The 70 mm Replacement Clamp Jaw Covers (Unior 1693.11) are the cover size sized for the Pro Shop Clamp 1693.1Q and the older 1693.1 / 1693.1S cam-style clamps with the 70 mm jaw height.

When the rubber wears, you replace the rubber; the clamp itself stays. The covers slip onto the existing jaws without tools and lock into the same retention geometry the original factory covers used. The clamp goes from “showing its age” to “freshly bedded” in the time it takes to swap them in.

Why fresh covers matter

A worn jaw cover doesn't grip the frame tube the way a fresh one does. The rubber compound is the surface that holds the bike under torque; once the rubber is glazed, hardened by frame cleaner, or torn through to the metal beneath, the clamp's hold on the bike is compromised. For carbon frames, an over-tightened clamp on worn covers is the failure mode that ends with a cored seat tube; for aluminum frames, it's the route to a clamp-shaped dent. Fresh covers protect both the bike and the clamp.

Sizing: confirm before you order

This is the 70 mm cover sized for clamps with the 70 mm jaw height. Two other cover sizes are available for different Unior clamp variants:

  • 96 mm covers fit the older square-style jaws on 1693.1 / 1693.1S clamps with the 90 mm jaw height.
  • 57.2 mm covers fit the Master Shop Clamp (1693.1M) with the shorter round-jaw geometry.

Measure your existing covers (or the bare jaw, if your stand is running with a shop rag in place of covers) before ordering; the three sizes are not cross-compatible.

Built in Zreče, Slovenia

Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. The 1693.11 covers are the consumable on a Pro Shop Clamp's daily life: every bike that goes on the clamp leaves a small mark on the rubber, and every shop rag wipe of the rubber accelerates the wear. Fresh covers from the same factory the clamp shipped from, sized to the 70 mm jaw the clamp was designed around.

Pro tip from our mechanics

We've watched shops use a shop rag as a jaw cover for years past the point a fresh set of covers would have paid back. The rag-on-jaw fix tells the customer everything they need to know about the rest of the shop's tool standards; fresh covers cost less than a single drink-of-bottled-water tab on a takeout order. Buy them when the originals look tired, not when they fail. Shopping for the clamp head itself rather than the covers?
