A workshop coffee mug serves a different purpose than the kitchen kind. It sits on a shelf above a parts cleaner. It gets used three or four times across a shift and rinsed at a utility sink. Sometimes it ends up on the induction burner on the workshop counter for a reheat that the kitchen would never tolerate. An enameled mug is the right answer to all of that.

This one is made in Slovenia, which is also where the Unior tools are forged. The same country, in a different factory, with the same workshop-grade durability assumption baked into the build: a thick enamel coating on a steel body, with the kind of finish that takes the abuse of a bench environment without chipping at the rim after a month.

Black enamel exterior with white lettering. White enamel interior; the contrast is functional, not just aesthetic; you can see the coffee level against the inner surface in low light. The build is non-toxic and nickel-free, which matters more than it sounds: nickel is a common metal allergen, and in our experience cheaper enameled cups often pick it up somewhere in the metalworking step. We left it out.

Built by a tool company

Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče, Slovenia, since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. This mug is made in the same country, in a different factory, with the same workshop-grade build assumption. The induction-compatibility note is the one that matters most for a workshop setup with a single-burner countertop hob; the nickel-free spec is the one that matters most for daily use.

Pro tip from our mechanics

A workshop mug that can sit on an induction burner is a small spec detail with disproportionate practical value; the morning coffee that's gone cold by 10am gets a reheat without anyone having to walk to a kitchen. Pair with the Insulated Vacuum Bottle for the hours when a mug refill stops being enough, or the Made For Work Coozie for the after-work version.
