Sinter organic replacement pads for Magura two-piston calipers and Campagnolo disc brakes. Despite the name, Sinter only make organic pads, so the compound runs cooler at the caliper, gives sharper lever feedback, and stays quieter with less rotor wear than sintered metal. Pick the compound color below to match how you ride this brake.

Magura's MT-series two-piston calipers and Campagnolo's pre-2019 disc brakes share a pad pocket, and the Sinter Model 009 is the organic-compound replacement that fits both. The MT2 / MT4 / MT6 / MT8 / MTS family is Magura's lighter-end MTB and trekking platform; calipers that are common on European builds and on a growing share of US trail bikes since Magura's North American distribution expanded. The Campagnolo coverage extends back through every Campagnolo Disc caliper before the 2019 redesign.

What's in the kit

One caliper's worth of pads (2 pads, left and right) for the Magura MT 2-piston pocket. The kit ships with the pin and bedding-in instructions; the spring is part of the pad assembly. Order two kits if you're replacing front and rear pads in the same service.

Fits

Magura MT 2-piston and Campagnolo pre-2019 pad shape:

  • Magura MT2 (2-piston, entry MTB)
  • Magura MT4 (2-piston, mid-range MTB)
  • Magura MT6 (2-piston, premium 2-piston MTB)
  • Magura MT8 (2-piston, top-tier 2-piston)
  • Magura MTS (sport / commuter)
  • Campagnolo Disc (all brakes through model year 2019)

The 2019 Campagnolo Disc redesign moved to a different pad pocket; if your Campagnolo road bike is 2020-onward, the Model 027 (Campagnolo Green) is the correct fitment. For pre-2019 Campagnolo and all current Magura MT 2-piston, this is the right Sinter model.

Compound and feel

The Magura MT-series caliper is engineered around a softer initial bite than the equivalent Shimano or SRAM caliper, and Sinter's organic ceramic-loaded compound complements that engineering. The lever feel stays linear from the first pull through hard deceleration, and the compound runs quiet on the Magura-spec MDR-P rotor or the more common Centerline / SM-RT pattern most Magura customers swap in. For Campagnolo road riders on pre-2019 calipers, the Sinter pad reproduces the modulation that Campagnolo originally specced; a meaningful improvement over the rough-feeling OE replacements that are often the only option through the original-equipment channel.

Choosing your compound

Despite the name, every Sinter compound is organic — not a sintered-metal pad. Organic pads run cooler at the caliper, give more lever feel and modulation, stay quiet, and are gentler on your rotors. The color of the backing plate tells you the compound.

Red s514

The all-round upgrade from OEM. Consistent performance, smooth modulation and lever feel, excellent durability.

Black s550

Great-value organic compound with ceramic particles — a soft, controlled bite and strong resistance to wear.

Green s2032

Sinter's race compound. A state-of-the-art material for braking aggressively while keeping ultimate power and control across temperatures.

Blue s530

For e-bikes, DH and Enduro. Consistent power with high modulation, lever comfort and slow wear across all temperatures.

Our pick for this brake

For most riders on Magura MT or Campagnolo calipers, start with Red s514; it is the all-round upgrade over OE pads, with consistent performance and smooth modulation that suits the soft initial bite these calipers are built around.

If you ride steep, fast terrain and want more power without losing control, step up to Green s2032, Sinter's race compound. If you want the most value, Black s550 is an organic ceramic-particle compound with a controlled bite and strong wear resistance.

Also in the Sinter range: the Cargo pad, built for cargo bikes and heavy daily city loads.

Sinter, made in Slovenia since 1969

Sinter has been making friction materials in Ljubljana since 1969, and developed the first disc brake pads in the former Yugoslavia in 1972. The plant supplies organic-compound pads at scale to European motorcycle OEMs alongside the bicycle aftermarket. Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. The Model 009 is the Magura-and-Campagnolo pad in this Slovenian catalog, two component-brand fitments served by one pad shape because the geometric standards in early-2010s European disc brake design converged.

Pro tip from our mechanics

Magura calipers use mineral oil rather than DOT fluid, and a fresh pad install is the right moment to check the system for moisture contamination at the lever. Mineral oil's working envelope is wider than DOT but it still picks up moisture over a season of riding; a slightly cloudy or amber fluid color through the lever's reservoir window is a signal to schedule a bleed before the next big descent. A Bleedkit Magura kit is the next-step purchase if the fluid looks ready for change.

FAQ

Which brakes does the Sinter Model 009 fit? The Model 009 pad is intended for Magura two-piston calipers and Campagnolo disc calipers that share this shape. Fitment comes down to the pad profile, not the brand label, so pull a worn pad and compare the backing-plate outline, the tab, and the pin hole with this one before you order. If your old pad has a model number stamped on it, use that as a cross-check. When in doubt, send a photo of the worn pad and we can confirm the correct fit.

Are these sintered metal pads? No. Despite the name, Sinter only make organic pads, not sintered metal. Organic compound runs cooler at the caliper, gives you more lever feedback and better modulation, and stays quieter with less rotor wear and vibration than a sintered pad. The Black s550 uses ceramic particles in the organic mix for a controlled bite, but it is still an organic pad, not semi-metallic.

How do I bed in new pads? After fitting, find a flat, traffic-free stretch and bring the bike up to a moderate speed, then brake firmly down to walking pace without locking the wheel. Repeat that around ten to fifteen times for each brake, letting the rotor cool slightly between pulls. This transfers an even layer of pad material onto the rotor and builds full bite. Expect lighter braking and some squeal until bed-in is finished, and avoid a long hard drag that glazes a fresh pad.

Why won't the new pads fit back into the caliper? As the old pads wore down, the caliper pistons advanced to take up the gap, so there is no longer room for the thicker new pads. Before fitting, remove the old pads and gently push the pistons all the way back into the caliper to reset them. A flat plastic tire lever or a dedicated piston-spreader tool works well; press evenly so you do not cock a piston. Once the pistons are fully retracted the new pads will seat, and the first few lever pulls bring them back out to the rotor.

From the press

The Sinter pads demonstrated the most consistent performance with the least fade, maintaining effective braking under high heat.

The Sinter pads – which are organic, by the way – improved deceleration on all models, but to very different degrees.
