Thru-axle Adaptor for 1693R Pro Road Stand
Thru-axle Adaptor for 1693R Pro Road Stand
Thru-axle road bikes and gravel bikes don't fit the original 1693R Pro Road Stand mount geometry, which was designed around the QR-skewer fork-end interface of the 2010s road bike. The 1693R.2 Thru-axle Adaptor is the bolt-on extension that takes the same Pro Road Stand and makes it the right stand for modern thru-axle road, gravel, cross-country, and TT bikes.
The adapter clamps over the support beam of the Pro Road Stand and grips the bike's thru-axle directly. The geometry presents the bike to the mechanic the same way the QR mount does: bottom-bracket-area support, five-axis adjustability for fit work, no clamp on a frame tube. The adapter is welded steel and sized to take meaningful working load without slipping or flexing under the mechanic's pry on a stuck axle or a tight headset.
A practical detail that matters once the adapter is in the shop: the adapter can live on the stand alongside the QR-skewer mount. Loosen the underside fixing bolt, slide the adapter out of the way; tighten when you need it back. Shops doing mixed-axle work (a vintage road bike on QR, the next bike a thru-axle gravel rig) don't have to choose at the start of the day which mount to fit; both ride the stand together.

Built in Zreče, Slovenia
Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. The 1693R.2 is the kind of adapter that exists because the Pro Road Stand has held its design long enough that the bikes around it changed; the QR skewer used to be the road-bike interface, and now the thru-axle is. The adapter is what makes the stand still the right tool a decade after a fork-end standard shifted.
Pro tip from our mechanics
Most shops doing road work today see thru-axle as the default and QR-skewer as the exception, which means the 1693R.2 isn't really an accessory anymore; it's the working mount for most bikes. Order it with a new 1693R, 1693RP, or 1693RP1; for shops already running an older stand, it slides onto the beam without modification. The thru-axle adoption arc and the road-stand-versus-tripod-stand question both come up in the same conversation: How to choose a bike repair stand →
