Wooden Angle Working Plate with Stainless Steel Cover
Wooden Angle Working Plate with Stainless Steel Cover
A bench top that resists everything a bike workshop throws at it; solvent, hydraulic fluid, grease, a dropped wrench, brake fluid, parts cleaner, and the inevitable hot work; is two surfaces in one. The wood core damps impact; the stainless steel cover resists corrosion and heat. The Unior Wooden Angle Working Plate with Stainless Steel Cover (990TW1-SST) is that two-layer construction in a single bench-top component.
What it solves
A single-material bench top makes a trade-off that bites in service:
- Pure wood bench tops are quiet and forgiving on dropped tools but stain under brake fluid, gouge under sharp edges, and char under hot work.
- Pure stainless tops resist everything chemical but ring loudly under impact, dent visibly, and fatigue at the edges.
The 990TW1-SST is the compromise neither material offers alone: the chipboard core damps impact and weight; the stainless cover stops contamination at the surface. Heat-resistant to 100 °C; non-porous to dirt and oil; corrosion-resistant against the everyday chemicals a workshop sees.
Specs
- Construction: chipboard core with bonded inox stainless steel cover.
- Heat resistance: up to 100 °C.
- Chemical resistance: non-porous to dirt, oil, brake fluid, solvent, and parts cleaner.
- Surface: non-porous; cleans with a damp cloth.
- Compatibility: sized to fit the Unior 2600A and 2600C workbench frames.
- Product code: 990TW1-SST.
The same bench-top construction ships installed on the 2600C Master Workbench; the stainless-clad version of the 990TW wood bench top that ships standard with the 2600A Professional Mechanic Workbench. The 990TW1-SST is the upgrade path for shops that started with a 2600A wood top and need the stainless overlay for heavier service-fluid work.
Built in Zreče, Slovenia
Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče, Slovenia, since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. The 990TW1-SST is part of the same in-house manufacturing chain that produces the cabinets and bench frames; the dimensions, bolt-holes, and clamp-mount positions match the bench frame the cover sits on.
Pro tip from our mechanics
A stainless-clad bench top isn’t necessary for every workshop. Shops running mostly mechanical work (drivetrain, brake adjustment, wheel truing, dry stand work) can stay on the wood top indefinitely. Shops running suspension or hydraulic-brake bleed work weekly see the stainless cover pay back in the first year.
