Which brakes can I use GOLD mineral oil in? Any brake designed for mineral oil: Shimano, Magura, TRP, Tektro, and Formula Cura are the families Bleedkit.com lists. Never put it in a DOT system (SRAM's DOT brakes, Avid, Hayes, Hope, older Formula). DOT and mineral-oil brakes use different seal compounds, and cross-contamination causes permanent seal damage.
Does GOLD oil help with Shimano's wandering bite point? That is what it is best known for. Its viscosity index of 200, roughly double the 98 that Shimano's own oil measured in the same OELCHECK lab test, means viscosity changes far less with temperature, which keeps the lever's bite point consistent. Vital MTB confirmed the improvement back to back against the original oil, and Gorilla Brakes reported the fix holding over weeks of riding.
Can I use it in SRAM Maven or DB8 brakes? Those two are mineral-oil brakes, but SRAM specifies its co-developed Maxima Mineral Brake Oil for them and states that using any other oil voids the Maven warranty, so we do not recommend it. GOLD's published compatibility covers Shimano, Magura, TRP, Tektro, and Formula Cura. SRAM's other families (Code, Level, Guide, G2) run DOT fluid and must never see mineral oil.

In the brake, the formulation is built for prolonged service intervals: Bleedkit.com states it does not degrade much with time or heat, and its evaporation loss measured 15.6% in the 250° C Noack test against 56.1% for Shimano's oil.
