A T-handle is faster than an L-key and more controlled than a ratchet, which is why it is the driver a mechanic reaches for on nine fasteners out of ten. The trade-off is that T-handles do not nest; each size is its own tool, and a full hex and Torx run is sixteen separate handles that will colonise a drawer unless something holds them. The Unior 1600SOS19-US is that something: the complete T-handle run plus the screwdrivers, in fixed foam positions.
What's in the tray
T-handle hex wrenches (193HX-US); eight sizes:
- 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 mm.
TX profile screwdrivers with T-handle; five sizes:
- TX10, TX15, TX25, TX27 and TX30.
Screwdrivers and awl:
- Electrician's screwdriver with insulated blade, VDE TBI (603VDETBI); 0.8 × 4.0 × 100 mm.
- Electrician's screwdriver with insulated blade, VDE TBI (603VDETBI); 1.0 × 5.5 × 125 mm.
- Crosstip (PH) screwdriver with insulated blade, VDE TBI (613VDETBI); PH1 × 80 mm.
- Crosstip (PH) screwdriver with insulated blade, VDE TBI (613VDETBI); PH2 × 100 mm.
- Awl with round, double-bent blade (639C, 165 mm); for routing internal cable liners and starting a hole where a drill will not fit.
- SOS tool tray shell for 1600SOS19 (629210, 564 × 364 × 30 mm).
The insulated VDE screwdrivers matter more than they used to. E-bike service means working near live battery and motor connections, and a VDE-certified blade is the difference between a safe probe and an expensive short.
Where the 1600SOS19-US fits in the system
The 1600SOS19-US is the daily-driver tray of the legacy 1600SOS13–19 series; the one that stays open. It is designed to run alongside the 1600SOS15-US, which carries the loose hex keys, sockets and the two electronic torque wrenches. Use the T-handles to run a fastener down and the torque wrench to finish it. The rest of the series:
- 1600SOS13-US; hanger alignment and cable work
- 1600SOS14-US; combination wrenches, pliers and measuring
- 1600SOS16-US; single-sided cone wrenches
- 1600SOS17-US; cassette, freewheel and crank tools
- 1600SOS18-US; bottom bracket, spoke and brake tools
The current-generation equivalent is the 1600SOS27 Hex/Torx T-Handles & Screwdrivers tray.
Compatibility
Tray shell 564 × 364 × 30 mm, the standard Unior SOS footprint, available separately as part 629210. Measure your drawer's clear internal dimensions before ordering.
Built in Zreče, Slovenia
Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče since 1919, and sponsors professional road and mountain-bike race teams. A T-handle lives or dies on the joint between the bar and the shaft, because that joint takes every bit of torque the mechanic applies with two hands; forged and heat-treated is the difference between a tool that lasts a career and one that lasts a season.
Pro tip from our mechanics
The 10 mm T-handle is the one that surprises people. It looks like the size you will never use, right up until a pedal spindle, an older crank bolt or a rack strut needs it, and then it is the only tool that will do. It is in the run for a reason; leave it in the tray. Our workshop guide covers building a bench from the daily-driver trays outward: How to set up a professional bike workshop →
